Comparing a MacBook Pro and
ThinkPad’s Open-Box Experience
ZDNet blogger Mitch Radcliffe has an interestingcomparison of opening up a MacBook Pro and Lenovo ThinkPad. Without paying any attention to specs or benchmarks, Radcliffe simply looks at the differences in packaging and presentation to a new buyer. The comments show an interesting cultural difference between Mac and PC users and what they value or perceive in aesthetics. Mac users generally see the box as showing Apple’s attention to quality and detail in every aspect of their products, while PC users tend to see it as unnecessary and one more frivolity that allows Apple to charge more. I’m guessing a lot of us remember some of our more memorable Macs and the excitement of picking them up from the store or having them delivered and getting to open up that box for the first time.
