Expodition offers iPhone owners digital travel guides
Expodition.com has announced that they will be expanding their Pod Snapshots to support the iPhone. If you’re unfamiliar with Expodition, it’s a pretty cool-looking service. Sign up, put in your interests and what kind of travel you’re doing, and a Pod Snapshot suited for your trip and the city you’re visiting will be tailored for you. Spring break revelers will get a different Snapshot then a businessperson headed to Chicago, for instance. Users can even input preferences for their taste in food!
The current service is for iPod owners (hence the name Expodition), but the expansion for future iPhone owners offers some amazing potential. Imagine integrating the Google Maps service found on the iPhone with a transit timetable for your destination city and a list of recommended restaurants and other destinations. Even more appealing for the traveler looking to lighten his load, one could conceivably replace several pounds of Lonely Planet guides by loading up their iPhone with Snapshots for multiple cities.
Users can download general Snapshots for free, while customized Snapshots comes in three different levels, Lite, Regular, and Max, and have a fee associated with them. For more information, check out Expodition’s website.
