iPhone coming on June 15th?

LoopRumors has a juicy rumor about a potential release date of the iPhone. According to a letter obtained by the site, Apple has asked the FCC to maintain confidentiality on some elements of the iPhone until June 15th, leading to speculation that this could be the big day.

Perhaps not coincidentally, Apple has also just announced the dates for this year’s World Wide Developers Conference as June 11-15. Could an iPhone be on the keynote agenda?

Of course, some have suggested that Apple will be releasing the iPhone significantly earlier than mid-June, so this date could simply be an attempt on Apple’s part to hedge its bets in case their intended release date slips. Though Apple’s Rev. A products have a bit of a (ahem) reputation among their devotees, it seems reasonable to assume that with the first iteration of the iPhone, Apple will try and get it right from the beginning.
