Apple collecting bounty for each Cingular convert?
Posted on February 12th, 2007 by Simon
Apple Insider has an interesting rumor that Apple could be receiving a payout from Cingular for every subscriber they add to the service. Every iPhone sold could garner Apple $250-$300, giving the product some pretty hefty margins. One detail still unclear is if this arrangement would apply to all iPhones sold, or only those sold directly through Apple. Considering how many people will likely be switching to Cingular strictly for the iPhone, this could prove to be a huge windfall for both the carrier and Apple.
