Apple expects most iPhones to be sold via Apple stores

An interesting story has been posted on AppleInsider on the expectation that most iPhones will be sold via Apple’s own stores. Of course, we’ve already heard that the iPhone will only be offered via Cingular and Apple’s own retail outlets and not just any cell phone shop, but this is still interesting information. The reasoning behind this belief is that consumers will turn to Apple to demonstrate the iPhone instead of Cingular employees.

While we agree that most of the iPhone business will be conducted via Apple’s stores or website, we’re a little suspicious of the reasoning. Our guess is that the iPhone is simply more associated with Apple than Cingular, Apple offers a better retail experience than a packed Cingular kiosk, and Apple fans will be some of the most eager purchasers of the iPhone.
