Apple notebooks shifting to NAND flash storage, says analyst

Those prolific rumor mongers over at Apple Insider have a report from veteran Apple analyst Shaw Wu on Apple’s embracing of NAND flash memory in a variety of applications. The first product we should see in this effort, according to Wu, is the recently-rumored sub-notebook, which is believed to utilize NAND flash for primary storage.

We’re pumped to hear this news, both because it makes it sound more likely that the sub-notebook from Apple is really going to materialize, and the potential of notebooks using flash memory is really exciting. We could be seeing notebooks that don’t compromise on capacity, but deliver much greater battery life and more flexibility in form factor for notebooks.
