Bank of America strengthens Mac sub-notebook rumors

AppleInsider has word of a Bank of America report speculating on the release of a sub-notebook from Apple. Rumors have been rampant lately that Apple will be re-entering the sub-notebook market in grand fashion, with some suggesting the machine will make use of NAND flash memory for at least a portion of its storage.

Bank of America is onboard with the flash storage rumor, believing the machine will have a flash drive of around 30GB in size. One interesting point as a general comment on the use of flash drives in notebooks was made by the BoA analyst:

Another major deterrent is Microsoft’s Vista operating system…which would require about half the 30GB of drive space for installation compared to the 2GB – 4GB required by Apple’s Mac OS X.

For those of you wondering how long to hold off for a purchase, this analyst at least expects release of the rumored sub-notebook in the second half of 2007, which isn’t too far away.
