Verizon ships EV-DO Rev. A ExpressCard for MacBook Pro

If you’re a Verizon customer with a MacBook Pro and have been wanting some fast wireless internet, you just might be in luck. According to Macworld, they’ve announced an ExpressCard/34 card to allow access to Verizon’s wireless broadband at EV-DO Rev. A speeds. The Novatel V740, which will run you $179.99 with a two-year contract or $229.99 with a one-year contract, provides an average download speed of 600 kilobits per second to 1.4 megabits per second, with an upload speed of 500-800 kilobits per second. Yeah, this probably won’t replace your wired connection at home, but that’s certainly some respectable bandwidth, considering the circumstances. And yes, it does officially have Mac OS X support, so no worries on that front.
