MacNN has an interesting piece on Apple’s efforts to file a patent for their MagSafe connector, in case you were worried that another company was going to use the idea. This could potentially keep other notebook makers from instituting this kind of functionality, as it’s a fairly broad patent for an electromagnetic connector. As rival companies will inevitably want to include something similar in their own products, it’ll be interesting to see how they work around this.
