MacService begins new recycling initiative

Given that it’s Earth Day today, what better time to mention MacService.com’s new e-waste initiative:

Santa Clara, California – MacService.com has announced a new partnership
formed with EarthCare Recycling and ECS Refining to recycle electronic waste
(“e-waste”) products removed during the computer repair process.

Up to 80% of U.S. e-waste is exported to developing countries where toxic
components are burned, dumped, or smashed apart by impoverished workers.
Only 10% of unwanted and obsolete computers are recycled responsibly. ECS
Refining’s process makes 100% recycling their standard practice, making sure
no e-waste is disposed of. All e-waste is recycled domestically and no
hazardous material is shipped overseas.

“By sending our e-waste though a 100% recycling process, we can be sure it
never ends up in a landfill” says Justin Sanderson, President of
MacService.com, “We’re working on educating other businesses about the
process, so together we can make a significant impact on reducing e-waste
locally and abroad.”
