MacBooks get processor, memory, storage boost
Falling in line with expectations, Apple’s MacBook line received a mild update today, with a modest speed bump and increased RAM and storage. The base model is now a 2.0 GHz Core2Duo with 80GB hard drive at $1099, while the next model up is 2.16 GHz with 120GB hard drive at $1299, and the top-end black model is 2.16 GHz with a 160GB hard drive and runs $1499. Every model features 1GB of RAM, and as expected, the new MacBooks do not utilize Intel’s new Santa Rosa platform. There has been some speculation that the LCDs in the new models are slightly better, but we’ll wait and see some actual comparisons before saying that with any certainty.
