MacBook RAM benchmarks: matched vs unmatched

After receiving several emails from readers wondering whether more RAM or matched pairs is better for performance, we’re happy to say that Other World Computing has handled the benchmarking for us. Bottom line: you’re better off with 3GB of RAM than 2GB for the majority of cases, even though they’re unmatched pairs. There are some cases, though, where the interleaved RAM performed better, even with less overall memory. Whether to go with the larger amount of RAM or a matched pair will, of course, be somewhat determined by your uses, but this is a nice guide to what’s best.
