AT&T making the most of EDGE
For all the griping about no 3G iPhone, it looks like AT&T is doing what it can to make the wireless experience with the iPhone a good one. Gizmodo has caught wind of a rumor at AT&T that the carrier is working on a project called “Fine Edge” to make the most of the EDGE technology utilized by the network.
The project has been going on for as many as six weeks, and is expected to to continue until June 15. Included in the efforts are improvements to EDGE latency, throughput, and coverage, according to Gizmodo. The hope is to get a minimum performance of 80kbps, which certainly isn’t too speedy to those of us accustomed to broadband, but is a significant improvement over the current state of EDGE in many parts of the country.
